Great location at river front. Shame the pool was closed.

Bedrooms were great with super comfortable big beds. Breakfast was pretty good.

Pool was closed due to seasonal opening times which were not totally clear on the Booking site or the hotel’s website. They compensated us but it spoiled the trip which was supposed to be about spending a few days by the pool. Staff were mixed. Some really good but others were not so helpful and very slow.

Super dirty, the pool was not open, great location.

The location is great. It is very safe to walk around.

Very dirty. We booked a duplex suite and both bathrooms were not cleaned properly. You could definitely see previous hair. Dust everywhere. I don't think the balcony was ever cleaned. All windows had finger prints. In the kitchen sink you could definitely see fruit seeds from the previous guests.

What was the highlight of Esplendor Wyndham Montevideo Punta Carretas

Decent hotel but not a luxury place.

The hotel had a very comfortable bed and offered a decent breakfast. It is also in a good location and has a decent gym. The entrance is stylish and contemporary, but the rest of the place has the look-and-feel of a university dormitory. Good for families with children.

The swimming pool (beautifully shown in the pictures) isn't even open yet! That was a huge disappointment. They said the pool inauguration was soon to come. The walls in the corridors and room had marks all over them. Just about the entire hotel needs paint touch-ups. The first floor corridor rug had a big stain in the middle of it. The rooms have A/C but no heat! On our first night, it was rather cold and while the room thermostat has a heat position, when we inquired why heat was not being generated, we were told there is no heat in the rooms. This is a good place for kids and maybe groups, not so much for couples or business people. It appeared cheaply constructed for high traffic with Ikea-like furnishings.

The bed is really comfortable and the location is perfect.

The bed is really comfortable and the location is perfect. Just 30 seconds away from the Rambla and the best beaches of Punta Carretas.

The hotel is perfectly fine, comfortable and well located, but you usually expect a little bit more from a 4-star hotel. Room cleaning can be definitely improved. As well as the maintenance of the facilities. For the money they charge, they could do a little better.

Gym. Location.

Staff speaks poor english. Nobody can give a straight answer when you ask a question. It is impossible to get a towel for the gym. First hotel ever I had to ask to change the sheet upon arrival because of stains from various sources. And the maids were angry because I contacted the reception. Breakfast is poor and same always. This is a 3 star hotel in the best of days.

Bed, shower, view, location.

Staff (amateurish, inefficient, unwilling, slow, unfriendly), cleanliness (room was dirty, bathroom was dirty, lobby was dirty, hallways were dirty, restaurant was disgusting), bathroom sink (no drainage, no space, dirty), breakfast (dirty, poor choices, understaffed), swimming pool (closed), lighting was poor and tacky, TV only had dubbed channels (and had a blue light which lit the entire room at night--we had to put a towel over it every time we slept).

The staff was accommodating and friendly. I requested a quiet room, but they had me in a “sea view” room ( what do I care- I’d be sleeping!!) so they put me in a large suite at the same price. Very friendly staff!

Excellent value for the moneay, nice and modern hotel. Staff super kind and willing to help all the time. Room spacious and super comfortable King bed. Bathroom excellent . Well localized with excellent restaurants at walking distance , including las Ramblas side walk where you can run, bike skate for kilometers. We were very please with our stay!

The Location was quite good for us a couple.

The Location was quite good for us a couple. We wanted to stay away from noise and too many people. It had a great bar right in the front and a wonderful cafe around the block. The view was beautiful and for running it was awesome as it is directly at the beach.

My wife and I wanted to have some days off to relax and to refill our batteries. That’s why I wanted a hotel with pool, spa, sauna and breakfast. But the hotel failed with all these things. First the staff was not really friendly. I felt not welcome in the hotel.whenever we asked you never saw a smile or got a friendly word. The breakfast was a mess. It seemed to be a cantine - noisy and dirty. Tables were always full of plates and food after people leaving and no one seemed to clean it. The coffee was terrible and when you ordered a cappuccino or latte it was not at all like it should be. But you had to pay extra. We had just breakfast there once and paid for a regular one in a bistro outside the hotel after that. Asking for the pool the staff just said it is closed. Until November. Apparently for maintenance. sad because I was looking forward to it. But no sign or reference when booking nor somewhere in the hotel. The spa was made of three dark rooms with one lady who needed to close the place whenever she was treating someone. It was not a place where you like to relax. The sauna area was made of two small saunas - dry and humid one. This area was so so. Small and no one took care of it. Towels you could not find somewhere. You had to grap at the reception. One for each person. It was just sad how the “relaxing” area was maintained. A noisy room with just four chaises for about 8-10 people the day we were in. And we had a lot of black fungus on the ceiling. Not a place where you like to stay. In total the hotel was well located and the rooms where ok but the rest ....

Good value for money

I got a last minute offer so I decided to book. It was very cheap compared to other properties I checked online. Hotel is 1 min walk from the beach and 15 min walk from a mall (this was very convenient for me because exchange rate at the airport is insane!). Hotel is fine. Comfortable bed, nice shower. I read complaints about the breakfast but for me it was fine. Restaurant was new and I had good options to get started for the day.

I didn't like staff. Weren't helpful at all. Never even smiled of say hello. I was cold (weather was just awful) and there's not heating in the room. Location is nice but not very convenient if it's your first time in Montevideo. It's a bit far and taxis are expensive (better try uber if you can).

I have to say that all staff from reception to restaurant...

I have to say that all staff from reception to restaurant were very friendly and nice. Hotel is very clean. Really good location right by the sea yet also only a less than 10 min taxi ride into the centre.

The rooftop pool was not open even though they advertise that it is all over the hotel. Doesn't open until the end of November. My room was not cleaned one of the days and they then arrived after 7pm to clean it which was not good. However, the manager at the reception was very good in resolving any issues i had which made a big difference. She explained everything and looked after me very well. Gym could have more equipment for it's size. Lights in room are not connected and you have to go around and switch then on/off individually. Tv has no English channels and is quite difficult to use.

Situation very central, next to the sea and the parks - big rooms

We arrived early and the room was not ready (normal). We were told it was guaranteed for 15.00 which we knew and so we came back at 3 pm after lunch in the city. The reception told us in an unfriendly way the room was still not ready and we had to wait. After half an hour they told us to wait another 30 minutes. All this was comunicated in a very rough way, no one would either speak English or Portuguese at the beginning, only when we insisted to switch to another language because we do not speak Spanish. I asked for the reason of the delay and was told the hotel was full. This was clearly a lie, on several booking sites were still rooms available. I told this the receptionist and he almost yelled at me and said we just got to wait. In every hotel all over the world the reception of a 4 or 5 * hotel takes note of the early arrivers and prepares their rooms first. We saw while waiting people arriving and their room was ready. Also, it was a warm and sunny Sunday with little wind; a perfect day to relax on the pool, but the pool was closed and noone could tell us why. Later we ordered a beer because there were none in the minibar. We waited onver an hour, but they were never brought. Before travelling to Montevideo, we were told this was the best hotel; well, our experience was definitely very bad!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Montevideo! It was stylish and in a great location!

This hotel was incredible! Great location, with beautiful ocean view from my room. There was a lot of thought and detail put into the design of the room. I work while traveling and the accommodations made that a breeze. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The gym and spa was awesome too!

Free breakfast is always a plus! I just wish they would have switched it up every other morning for more variety.

I was told that the parking was included but when we got there we had to pay 450$ about usd 15, and parking was tight, I never seen anything like this. The people at front desk were kind of rude, need to improve their manners. The room was big however the "furnitures" were poor, there were not night tables but a marble row very very low that if you want to leave the phone with the alarm or a glass of water you had to almost fell down to catch it. Breakfast poor, coldpancakes and waffles, not many choices.

Perfect hotel for Montevideo

The hotel is modern and cool. The staff are very nice and helpful, they even let us checkout a bit later than usual. The gym has everything you could possibly need. Ultimately, the hotel couldn’t have been better!

Location is the best :-))) worth every penny

The location is fabulous. The staff was very helpful and polite.

No kettle In the rooms . So you could not even make a cup of tea. Breakfast was very basic. Buffet should have more options . The washroom in the lobby was pretty dirty the day I checked out and used it in the morning.
